Wildlife
Over-wintering wildfowl
on Stocks Reservoir
Stocks Reservoir,
the mixed woodland and the surrounding farmland and moor of the
water catchment area provide an important habitat for a wide range
of wildlife. On the reservoir itself, large numbers of wildfowl
and wading birds may be seen with occasional rare and unusual seasonal
visitors. A hide for bird-watchers is situated near the car-park at the
site of the former Dalehead Church. More
Information about birdwatching around Stocks
Reservoir and Gisburn Forest and reports of recent sightings are available on
the "East
Lancashire Birding" website.
